Run The Race Of Your Life

Run The Race Of Your Life

All hands in before the race...Teamwork makes the dreamwork.

All hands in before the race...Teamwork makes the dreamwork.

The world is forever changing, the fittest are forced to adapt. What can we do?  It's the plight of life? As we push our boundaries, we find new heights and levels that give new rushes and experiences. This struggle is never ending. Some simply stop at a rest stop and never start again while others ride it out until the wheels fall off. There is no right or wrong. There is just the willing and unwilling.

My brother once expressed he was tired of fighting this uphill battle. The sacrifices made had taken a toll. He seemed to want to settle into the comfort offered by society to those willing to play that role. I truly wasn’t sure what to tell him. "Keep pushing forward" would have been my selfish answer. Every savage must find heroes in their inner circle. Being that he is like an older brother to me and his dedication has outweighed mine, I’ve always looked up to him. He seemed a true titan who was always setting records and pushing forward. The sad truth is even titans tire sometimes. What do you do when your heroes tire and ask you for guidance? What would be your  response? Would you let the child inside answer from a selfish place or would you consider the individual from a place of consideration?

To my brother/ titan I say “ Never Settle, it ain't your pedigree”. We must not  blend into the masses. Our parents did not wire us that way. Our parents did two times better than theirs and then raised us to double up. It's a plan many years in the making. We are simply here to make it easier for our children. We are here to leave a lasting impression the world will never forget. Think of this as the relay race of life. Every generation gets their sprint but must hand off the baton in hopes that the next will put the same effort in for the win. If everyone does their part , regardless of the outcome there can be no blame. There is a unified sense of responsibility and memories of effort shared. Regardless, one runner always stands out. This runner either creates a great lead for his team or even closes the lead of another team. He or she exerts the maximum effort to keep the team afloat. In this race, a fog has descended upon the track. We are not sure where we stand in the race, so all of our runners must leave it all on the track. It is our duty to the ones who handed the baton to us, to show up and show up prepared and willing to give our all.

Even though our performance is held to such a high standard it is my belief that there are lessons our predecessors want us to understand and apply. We must never forget to appreciate all that is around us in our quest. The race has sprinting portions but is also a race of strategy and great distance. We must breath deeply during our run and inhale the fresh air, flowers, and grass. Don’t ever take things for granted. Appreciate and acknowledge the simple things. People who are successful talk about sacrifice and isolation. The truth is sacrifice depends on what your idea of success is. Never sacrifice happiness and the enjoyment of life, otherwise the success may feel empty or worthless. You may succeed but feel cheated. If you experienced financial success but could not feel the joys of living... what would your view of life be like? You couldn’t honestly tell someone what life was like if you spent yours chasing material things. Lack of interaction and connection means you wasted a lifetime of incredible moments. Brother, don’t waste the lifetime but don’t quit the race either. Your progress thus far is recognized but you're in position to create a lead your team never imagined. So pace yourself ,wave at the crowd, blow a kiss to the hottie up in the stands and run the race of your life. We owe it to the runners that came before us. Additionally, we owe it to the future to set the bar so high that if they walked they still couldn’t lose the race.

Live fully now. It is the only option that will allow you to die a happy and worry free man. One thing a savage can’t live with is regret and curiosity. It is not an option for us to lose or even be the weakest link. So find the balance, turn all your senses on, and run for the LOVE of your team and the LOVE of the sport. Remember we are here to inspire the sons of Savageland but don’t forget: Be present now! Learn from the mistakes of lonely rich men. Wealth is in the mind. Until Next time Keep it LYM!
